Appearance

Quite ironical really because
In those days I was quite tall
And to put it gently
He was really a bit small
But he was the Sgt Major
So his word was the law.
And rank perhaps helped
Distort just what he saw.

You're a horrible little man
That's how he started on me
Scruffy, heaving, and manky
And in truth I had to agree.
I really was a misfit
In my army days
Never quite got the hang
Of their quite silly ways.

You could make a million dollar suit
In seconds look like a heap of s##t
A heartfelt sincere remark
And ever since I've treasured it.
So, if my appearance bothers you
It doesn't bother me at all
After a Sgt Major's Beasting
It's  like rain running off a wall.
